beach days....

There is nothing better to me than waking up on a Saturday or Sunday morning and heading down to the beach. I remember so much of doing this growing up and I'm happy that we're getting a good amount of those in this summer. When Ry and I first got together, he wasn't feeling the beach AT ALL! He hated going and always got so burnt. Now with the girls, he's been coming every time we go! It's great. We usually go down with my parents (who are also beach bums), Frank and Beth, and than some other people too, Mary and Joe, Joey and Lex, Mags and Jabril. It's always a good time!
We always head to Asbury Park, it's nice, close and has a little spray park on the boardwalk and a playground on the beach. Mya has only used the spray park once, for about 20 minutes, but it was cute. She's pretty content with just hanging on the beach.
Our first beach day this summer was on June 16th. We headed down with my parents, Frank and Beth. It was the perfect beach day, EXCEPT Ryan's bright self said, "I'm not wearing sunscreen, I want to get a base!" Yes, that came out of his mouth! I am not his parent, so I told him once, that was a stupid idea but didn't want to keep telling him. He's a big boy. BAD DECISION! He got so burnt, like SO BAD! He had blisters come Monday morning. He was in so much pain the next day, which just so happened to be Fathers Day. We had these great plans to go to his dad's house and have fun, BBQ, play in the pool. Yup, Ry was in too much pain, so we pretty much stayed at home in the AC all day. Needless to say, he's been wearing sunscreen ever since!
ANYWAY, we got to the beach nice and early Saturday morning. It's nice to be early risers when heading to the beach. We got there by 9:30, after stopping at the scone pony (YUM!) and got a great spot!
Dewey and Nona just got there too so helped us unload the girls! Dewey and 2 of his grand daughters!

Mya was SO excited to be on the beach. She was screaming and jumping and ran right down to the water.

Running back to me, MOMMY, COME FEEL THE WATER!!!!

First smile for mama :)

That hiney is biteable!

Looking for sand crabs.

Found one! Mya was scared to hold it, even I don't mind holding them! Come on girl!
Love this little girl.

Ashley was checking out the water with Nona.

Mya had NO FEAR! I repeat, NO FEAR of the water. The first time we went to the beach last year, I remember her not wanting to go into the water. She'd put her feet in, but wouldn't go any more than that. Eventually she got used to it and went in more than just her feet but was still very cautious. This year is a complete other story! This kid thinks she's a mermaid, LITERALLY! She even told Ry that one time, when she was IN the ocean with him, screaming, "Daddy, let me go, I can swim, I'm a mermaid!" YIKES! Where's our happy medium??
So here she is, riding in waves with Uncle Frankie! How stinkin cute!

About to be tossed over...

Off she fell!

Ash was having fun walking in the waves with daddy....

All stretched out!

Mya wanted smooches from her sissy...love this!

LOVE this one more!

And on the way home that day, we saw this awesome car!!!!

Ash was too passed out to appreciate it though.

Another weekend, another beach day. I did give Ry the option to not come, however, he was over the burns and this time he wore sunscreen!
Dew was reading Ash a little book.

Ry picked up more squirt guns...

Mya wasted no time, cheesing and squirting!

This is the day where Mya thought she was a "mermaid" with daddy! TOO MUCH!
